Patron of actors, comedians, clowns, converts, dancers, and musicians
Genesius was an actor and comedian martyred in the 3rd century. He routinely performed in plays that ridiculed Christianity. But in the midst of a performance for the Emperor of Rome, Genesius experienced a radical spiritual transformation, and proclaimed a newfound faith in Christianity. Despite the Emperor’s fury, the actor embraced his conversion and chose to endure torture rather than renounce it. He was beheaded for his faith.
